There are so many ways we can find out more about ourselves and as you all know I used Astrology, Human Design and Coaching to help you grow into more of who you are. Have you taken a look at Numerology? My good friend Patricia Kirkman has co-authored the book “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Numerology Workbook which allows you to discover more about who you are through your birth name and date of birth. If you are in Tucson you may have seen Patricia at the monthly Mystic Messenger gathering. If you have been fortunate enough to have a reading with Patricia, then you already have a leg up on starting your new life NOW! Numerology is as old as the hills and one of the metaphysical modalities that we can also see as most logicalo. When you understand more about your “numbers” you will find more focus and meaning in your life.

What metaphysical modalities have you connected with in your life to assist you in connecting with your authentic self? Want a new one? Then check out Patricia’s book and her website www.patriciakirkman.com. Patricia offers opportunities for the average person to learn Numerology in a very easy way with her classes and workshops.

Patricia and I just had a conversation about the “number” of the month we are in and what that can mean to all of us. She asked me to share a little about the month of February 2012. This is a Universal 7 month. It’s about spirituality, learning and teaching. If you are not careful this is also a month when you find your legal problems coming to a head. You may find you have difficulty sleeping as your mind is going a mile a minute when in a “7″ month. How are you going to handle that? What tools and resources do you have at your disposal to learn and grow this month? What do you need? Are you asking for those needs to be met? Look at the whole picture of your life are you creating drama in your life? This is a month of paying attention to what is going on around you. Thank you Patricia for that little tid bit. Check out Patricia’s Facebook page and each day she gives a little glimpse of what’s to come for that day.

What is your intuition telling you?

When I look at intuition and the brain I look to the right hemisphere. That is the area where we are in the present moment, we see life in pictures and not words, all of our senses are on fire including our 6th sense.

In terms of astrology it’s your conscious and your subconscious mind that can be found through your Moon Sign and House placement.

Your conscious mind is your left hemisphere where you think in language, you recognize the past and plan for the future. It’s also where you compile you “to do” lists. Formulation as well as action is contained in the left hemisphere.

Your subconscious mind is connected with your intuition. How your intuition is accessed and shows up can be found in the Sign that inhabits your Moon. Those with water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces you connect on a deep feeling level and have a sense of “just knowing” when something doesn’t feel right. Those air signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius need to allow ideas from the outside and for others to tweak their desire to know more. The earth signs of Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn have to use the positive sides of each of these signs to stick with meditation, yoga or just breathing to allow yourself to tap into your intuition. For the fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius you receive “impressions” that may come through hearing others speak, or being aware of your surroundings.

How or whether you listen to your intuition can have a lot to do with how you were brought up. In my family my mother read cards and there was a family psychic, Mrs. Brown that my mother and her sister-in-laws saw a few times a year. For me it wasn’t that unusual to hear about people talking to the dead and listening to that small, still voice inside of themselves to guide them in where to next put their energy!

If you have to overcome the voices in your head that guide you away from the awareness of your intuition it’s time to get still and quiet and allow yourself to slow down and listen with your heart and not your head to what you are being told. Information from the Universe in the form of intuition is a hugely important part of your decision making process. Without your intuition you will only be able to make decisions based on the facts as they are presented to you in that moment which can have disastrous results. The most powerful of which I can remember is listening to the story of the gentleman who worked for American Airlines who checked in one of the terrorists on one of the flights that hit the World Trade Center. When he first saw one of the terrorists that’s exactly what he thought he was. His immediate head response to hearing his intuition was to chastise himself for thinking that this gentlemen, who was obviously dressed as a businessman, could be anything other than who he said he was. Not surprisingly when he later found out that his first intuition was correct, he felt sick.

Some of us have been trained out of listening to our intuition and taking action on it. We second guess ourselves every day. Our intuition guides us to take one type of action, whilst our IBS Committee starts shouting as to why that’s not a good idea.

Centering is needed first. Take some time this week, even if it’s only 3 minutes a day, to sit quietly and breathe. You will first notice that all you can think about is everything that you are not doing whilst you are sitting still. The more times you do this exercise the less the voices will come around until one day after 3 minutes you will notice that the only thing you focused on was your breathing.

Now what is your right hemisphere (intuition) telling you?

Astrology – The Moon – How you Feel

The Moon represents your emotions; it’s your conscious and unconscious mind. I see it as a place to find out more about the manner in which your intuition shows up. It also tells you how you show up in this world emotionally and how you handle the world at large. The biggest reason to know your Moon Sign and House is so that you can be aware everyday what your being is responding too. Listening to your Moon and your Intuition combined is a powerful tool and one that no one can take away from you!

Moon in Aries

There is quickness about you. You may rush all over the place not getting much accomplished. Whilst you have tons of enthusiasm you can also have a hare-trigger temper. You tend to have little patience. You are a leader and you have to be emotionally invested in projects to gain your full attention. People tend to follow you even though you don’t ask them too! You have the ability to start things, not so good on the finishing. You need to have lots of opportunities to start projects.

Moon in Taurus

You are great at making lists and getting things done. You are a natural organizer. You are also the type of person who is in tune with nature and animals. One of my son’s has his Moon in Taurus and he loves and feels connected to animals. Beauty is very important to you. You are patient and kind and need others to be the same for you. Financial Security is your top priority and having a good relationship with your mother. You may have a beautiful singing voice or be artistic in some other way.

Moon in Gemini

You are the ultimate information gatherer and seeker. Being “in the know” gives you the most comfort. Whether it is writing, reading, listening, speaking, watching television or surfing the net, the Moon in Gemini needs to stay connected at all times. Curiosity may kill the cat, but it keeps you fresh, vibrant and alive. You can become bored very quickly and need to switch back and forth between ideas. Your high intelligence, verbal abilities and sense of humor make certain that you are one of the most popular of people.

Moon in Cancer

Home is where truly where your heart is. You feel things deeply and permanently. Emotional security is paramount for you. Yes, you do have your mood swings and can be “crabby” at times. However, you open your heart and your front door to just about anyone in need. People love to tell you their troubles. You are a loyal and truly supportive friend. Privacy is a big deal for you and you tend to keep your walls up until you can truly trust someone. With your need for security, you also tend to collect a great deal of assets, financial and otherwise. Many of you with this position will have either a love/hate relationship with your mother. You can also experience a lack of mothering in your life.

Moon in Leo

You need an audience. It doesn’t matter if it’s one person or 1500 you are in your element. You also need to be recognized and praised for the work that you do. Make sure you identify with the work you do and that it has a creative aspect to it. You can work well with children. It doesn’t matter what other signs are in your chart there will be a small part of you that seeks attention. Dramatic in both speech and style, you function best when you can direct the action of your life.

Moon in Virgo

In order to feel peaceful you need to be organized, be useful and productive. You have an ability to analyze information and being on use is paramount to you. You possibly have the longest “to do” lists of the signs. Worrying and fretting are something you constantly work on keeping in check. Lots of deep breaths for you, in order to have a peaceful and stress free existence. You can be very critical of yourself as well as others and learning to relax more will help lower your expectations of yourself and others. You usually have a grasp on health issues and can adjust your diet when needed.

Moon in Libra

Libra likes to believe that love conquers all. You are the peacemaker and lover of all types of relationships. Sometimes it’s difficult for you to make a decision and others see you as indecisive. That’s not true; it’s just that there are so many options to choose from you have a hard time choosing. You are also a sign that loves beautiful things such as fine wines and art. You make a great Interior Decorator or Designer. You remember the little things in life. You are the person who always remembers to send cards on certain occasions. You are charming and natural when at your best as well as considerate of others’ feelings. You need balance in your life and you constantly are working to make that happen in all areas.

Moon in Scorpio

Your understanding of other emotions is second to none. Many mental health providers have their Moon in Scorpio as others trust you and will tell you everything. You may have severe disappointments and tragedies in your life. My best friend in England since I was 11 years old is Roz Brown. When she was 34 she married Jeremy and at the 5 month anniversary her husband died and her world was shattered. Drama is the key with a Moon in Scorpio. You are passionate and your beliefs and what you want. Nobody ought to cross you though as the Scorpio is not forgiving. You are highly intuitive and need to listen to what it’s telling you about people and situations. You are the Rock that everyone turns to in a crisis.

Moon in Sagittarius

You are the most optimistic of the signs and love life itself. You love the night life and parties and want to be on a constant adventure. You do well with long distance travel and having deep philosophical chats with others. You have no problem spending money and love to lavish your loved ones with gifts, especially ones such as a trip overseas. You have a lot of faith and it’s what keeps you going. No matter how many times things go wrong in your life you will always be able to pick yourself up and move on with your life. You are here to enjoy and live life.

Moon in Capricorn

A Capricorn Moon can appear to be serious and ambitious. You might spend part of your life trying to live up to what your parents wanted you to be or do. There are lots of rules that this sign makes that it expects others to keep. Many self made millionaires have this sign. You can accomplish many things in this life time. You have to plan and take it slowly. There is a drive and need to prove yourself so be careful you don’t become a workaholic. You tend to be pessimistic or at least a little suspicious of anything that is new and outside of the rules. The good news is that Capricorn Moons tend to grow old very pleasantly and look a lot younger than they are. Make sure you add plenty of play time in your climb to the top.

Moon in Aquarius

You are friendly, helpful and oh, so generous with your time. You love nothing better than being in the thick of things and then just as quickly disappearing and being by yourself. That’s the paradox of the Moon in Aquarius. As sociable as you are, you are definitely an island on to yourself. Very few people ever get to know the real you. Although you have many acquaintances you have very few real true-blue friends. Causes and Ideals excite and propel you forward. The future is ruled by Aquarius and many of you are constantly seeking what’s new and untried. You’ll be the first to try anything new.

Moon in Pisces

You live for love although you often end up with a broken heart. You are naturally intuitive and need to spend your time around positive people and positive energy. If you are around of gossips you will find yourself being drained. You have an ability to feel everyone’s pain and a desire to heal. It’s a spiritual healing that your sign offers and your compassion can come out in so many ways. Make sure you don’t devote all of your time to taking care of others. Loving yourself and taking care of yourself first is something that is necessary for this sign. Listen to your dreams and visions. Write them down and then watch how your day unfolds.

Building your Own intuition

One of the things that I’ve noticed about getting older is that my intuition becomes stronger, or is it that I’m more willing to listen to my intuition now rather than to what others’ have to say?

As we grow away from listening to our parents and teachers and start to listen to our own insides our intuition becomes stronger. One of the first problems that can occur is that we start to second guess what we are feeling, hearing, seeing, knowing. In order to stay in our own intuition and what works for each of us personally it helps to understand first how you are experiencing your intuition.

Fire Signs

If you have a Fire Sign that rules your Moon; Aries, Leo and Sagittarius then there is quickness to the intuition that you may sometimes miss in your hurry to hear what’s being said and taking action. When you have that feeling that you just know something write it down. This will give you enough time to slow down, hear your intuition and then take the appropriate action.

Earth Signs

If you have an Earth signs that rules your Moon; Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn there is a tendency to want some kind of proof that what you are feeling, hearing, seeing and/or knowing is real. You have to learn to let go of the rules that your Moon sign creates and recognize that you will get your proof when you let go and take action.

Air Signs

If you have an Air sign that rules your Moon; Gemini, Libra and Aquarius then you are very likely to get quick flashes of intuition all day long and all through your life. Your intuition shows up more in conversations with others and it’s important that you are fully present in conversations so that you can hear your own intuition in the conversation.

Water Signs

If you have a Water sign that rules your Moon; Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces these are naturally the most psychic and pick up the emotions and intuition not only of themselves, but those around them as well. It’s important for the water signs to learn how to separate themselves from others; otherwise it’s difficult to hear your own intuition and you will find yourself constantly tuned into others and following their intuition.

Stop questioning Your Intuition

The idea of second guessing your intuition comes from not only from yourself but from growing up in a world where science, something that has only really been around for over 100 years, is focused on proof. Many times with intuition proof comes after an event and therefore you have no idea how well your intuition has worked until after a situation has occurred.

Want an example?

A great example of this for me is back when I was 15 years old a new girl, Tina, came to our school and wormed her way into our crowd. I say “wormed” her way because from the moment I met her I didn’t like her. Didn’t know what it was, there was just something about her that didn’t “feel” right to be. My close friends told me to get over it and she was really nice and there was something wrong with me! Some friends we have at 15 years of age! I didn’t ignore my intuition and I was careful what I said or did around Tina. Fast forward 4 years and 3 of my friends go on vacation together. Whilst they are in Spain for 2 weeks, Tina and her then boyfriend break into all 3 apartments and steal anything that is valuable. She gets caught because of a neighbor at the 3rd girl’s house. When I hear about this experience my intuition says really loudly to me told you so. I didn’t bother saying it out loud to anyone. It was my confirmation that all those years ago I knew what I knew and my proof had to wait for 4 years!

If you want to be more connected with your own intuition and emotions you have to first set some time for yourself to work on understanding it more and practicing listening more.

There are several good books in the Universe that can help you improve your intuition. One of those books that I recommend is by Laura Day – Practical Intuition. Check out your library for copies of this and other books that refer to intuition.

Try this out

An exercise that can help you access your intuition is to set the timer for 22 minutes and to clear your mind, grab pen and paper and start asking yourself questions such as:

Do I know the issues in my emotional life on which I need to work?

Do I have co-dependency issues and allow others intuition to supersede my own?

When I meet others do I have an intuitive reaction to which I listen?

Write about 5 different times in your life when you heard your intuition and listened to it

Write about 5 different times in your life when you heard your intuition and ignored it?

What have you noticed are the consequences of not listening to your intuition?

Keep writing until you are done. Questions from the Universe will come up whilst you are doing the above writing. Stop my questions and move directly to the ones in your “head”. You can always come back and ask the questions I have posed later. There is no later for your intuition and you have to listen to and deal with it when it happens and for the length of time it’s talking to you.

Notice what happens to you as you move through your everyday life. You will become more aware of what you intuition is telling you and watch to see if you are listening or if you have resistance. Once you discover resistance, then it’s time to write about what that is. One of my clients recently wrote about her resistance and came to the realization that it was her family background in a religion that didn’t work for her that held her back. Once she had released that religion back to her family with love and moved its doctrines out of her life, she was more able to not only hear her intuition but more importantly to act on what it was suggesting she do.

I’m in a 2 year long Group Coaching experience that meets twice a month for nearly 2 hours. There are 8 of us all of whom are Coaches and who work in different areas of your lives! We decided to come up with a saying for our group that would inspire us. Someone first suggested “Play Big or Go Home”. This one worked for a little while until I realized that going home was not a punishment to those who work out of our homes and love what we do. I changed the saying as it worked for me to Play Big or Get a Job”. Because once you are spending more of your time doing what you love the idea of getting a job is horrifying.

All the thoughts come flooding back of being awoken by an alarm clock in what seemed like the early hours of the morning, wearing clothes that were not really what I wanted to wear and were required for my work. Driving through traffic with everyone else at a slow pace. Managing the politics and the office gossip minefield as best as possible. Surviving work that is uninspiring and/or uninteresting, eating food at times dictated by a clock rather than your stomach and then getting home and decompressing from your job, relaxing at home, with friends, spending your time and energy in way that works for you, to go to sleep to start all over again! That middle part of the day at a job doesn’t sound very appealing to me.

I was looking for works that represent JOB and I came up with Just Ok Busywork. Is that what you are experiencing?

Thought I would write a post whilst I’m sitting here on the phone waiting to talk with my Mortgage Company. It’s been 15 minutes now! How long am I willing to wait? Good question and one that applies to all areas of importance in our lives. Firstly we need to determine what is worth waiting for and to come up with that information we need to know what we value. I happen to value my home so a call to the mortgage company that could take me over an hour is worth my time. (message from mortgage company that just beeped into the horrific elevator muzak to which I’m subjected too. They are thanking me for my loyality and are proud of their customer service. I have now been on hold for 19 minutes. Wonder what they consider customer service?)

So what is of value in your life? What is important to you? Do you even know? Most of us haven’t taken the time to sit down and ask ourselves those questions and when we do it can be a very uncomfortable feeling when we are saying something is of value to us and yet our lives are not set up to reflect that.

What is your #1 value? What can’t you live without in your life? For me Freedom is my #1 value, which means that everything I do in life is geared towards living in a way where I experience freedom. Right now at minute 23, I appears that I’m not experiencing the freedom. However when you look at what’s going on with the hold time, I am choosing to write a blog rather than getting annoyed about how long I’m on hold. I can write about it and tie it into something that you have experienced of need to experience and turn it into a learning lesson. The lesson for me today is that I can create my freedom whatever is going in my life.

What do you value and how does that show up in your life?

This morning I was talking with a friend about our need to “fix” things before we have all the information. So what stops us being curious? Is it because we feel like we are being nosy? This morning my husband received a package with a device to help ease his back pain. When he opened the package the device looked different from the picture. He asked me to look at it and to see if I could understand how it worked. I couldn’t and was just about to make the suggestion “how about you look on the internet at the page you ordered it from and see if there are instructions there that fit AND how about you call the company and see if they can help you.” I was about to be in “fix-it” mode. Instead I caught myself and decided to ask a question instead. I asked “what do you need from me right now?” He said “nothing, listen to me complain for a while.” “OK” was my answer and he did for about 90 seconds before he said “maybe I ought to look on the internet and see if I can find the answer there”. My response? “What a good idea honey. I’m off to take a shower.” Can you stay in curious mode and ask questions rather than trying to “fix” the problem or issue?

When I get enough money…

I was watching the X-Factor USA the other night and I every time I would hear the question asked “what would you do with the $5 million if you win the competition” I wanted to scream back at the TV. It’s not about the money. If you are in the musical world for real then it’s about the music and the money is secondary. Isn’t that the case with anything that you are doing about which you are passionate? The passion has to come first, the money comes second. It’s OK if the money comes first…

22 Minutes to Shining

If you have listened to this month’s recording, and read through the Astrology piece for the month, you know a little more about your own Sun Sign how and where in your life do you want to shine. The first place to start is to really take an honest look at your life. I like the idea of setting the timer for 22 minutes and just writing and writing and writing before that timer goes off. Why 22 minutes? 22 is a spiritual number and I like to include as many of those as possible in my daily life, spiritual numbers that is, not timers!

During your first 22 minutes write down sentences that tell you where you shine. For example “I love making sausage rolls. I’m really good at making pastry from scratch and I use the correct sausage and cook them perfectly so that they task like I just came home with them from the corner shop in England! My kids, husband and dad all ooh and ahh over my sausage rolls and it feels good to watch them enjoy them.” So there’s a place that I feel that I shine. Stop reading this and write one thing that you shine at and then come back! It only took me 30 seconds to write my example, which means I still have 21 minutes and 30 seconds left!

Over the next month add to your Shining List. What will happen is that you will also start to see the areas in which you have no interest and don’t want to learn to shine in! That’s ok too, put that information on a separate piece of paper. If you are finding that your list is a bit light then maybe it’s time to ask yourself if you do give yourself enough praise. If you are not praising yourself for the activities in which you are involved and behaviors you display, does someone else? Can you take that person’s enthusiasm for you and learn how to take it in and grow from it? Do you recognize the areas in which you shine? You can also get clarity around areas that you’d like to get better at or be more involved with, but haven’t yet.

Gather your list together of places you shine. Firstly it’s going to give you a boost to your self esteem and confidence. You will find there is more of a spring in your step and you may be smiling more often. What that does for the Universe is that it reinforces what you are good at and takes the focus off those areas in which you don’t excel or in which you don’t even like being engaged. The Universe will start to provide you with more opportunities to shine. One of my clients loved being on the PTA and realized that she was doing an incredible job with her position and wanted to do more. She realized where she shone and decided to put herself forward into a broader capacity that allowed her to shine even more! She decided to run for President of her organization and she was recognized by the others on the Board that she would shine the most in this position, so she was voted leader of the world!!! No actually, President of her organization.

Everything is about baby steps. Rome wasn’t built in a day (although do we really know that for sure)! As you enhance your learning in those areas in which you feel connected, you cannot help but shine. Add into the pot what you know about yourself astrologically, where you’re most drawn and your skills and talents, only then will you become closer to living your Soul Purpose Lifestyle.
